There's Entrepreneur Quotes Everywhere!

There's power in those entrepreneur quotes that we all see and hear. Their wisdom (or folly) is free for you to apply to yourself and your own business. Learning from others example is better than learning from the mistakes you make. Trust me... I know.

How do you find quotes about business or entrepreneurship that apply to your situation? Look at

  • The public library. You'll find a section full of books of quotes, some specific to business. Read & learn.
  • Ye olde book store. You'll find books with entrepreneur quotes in the business section, the self-improvement section, and the area with reference books. Some of those entrepreneur quotes may be thousands of years old and some are as new as last year!
  • Look on the internet. Do a search for “entrepreneur quotes” with your favorite search engine. There are entire websites devoted to quotes! Or you could search with other words, like specific famous entrepreneurs, job or business.

It's easy to keep a folder on your computer to save quotes and poems into. But any notebook or binder would do just as well.

Then, whether you need a comforting shoulder to cry on or a swift kick in the behind because you're lagging, you'll find just what the doctor ordered. Read awhile and get back on track again. See if any of these entrepreneur quotes speak to you.

Old quotes

"Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage," Niccolo Machiavelli (yes, that Machiavelli.)

Thomas Edison was an entrepreneur thru and thru. Equally familiar with failure as well as success, he said some amazing things! Like...

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”

“Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits.”

“Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.”

“Be courageous. I have seen many depressions in business. Always America has emerged from these stronger and more prosperous. Be brave as your fathers before you. Have faith! Go forward!”

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great," Mark Twain

Modern quotes about business

Some of my favorite entrepreneur quotes were said by the businessman- Warren Buffett. Here's two of my favorites...

“Should you find yourself in a chronically leaking boat, energy devoted to changing vessels is likely to be more productive than energy devoted to patching leaks.” (I should have read this while still trying to save my failing business!)

“Can you really explain to a fish what it's like to walk on land? One day on land is worth a thousand years of talking about it, and one day running a business has exactly the same kind of value.“

"The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It's as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer," Nolan Bushnell. Never heard of him? Have you played an Atari game? Or eaten at Chuck E. Cheese's? It's his fault.

"Nobody talks of entrepreneurship as survival, but that's exactly what it is and what nurtures creative thinking," Anita Roddick

“Failure defeats losers, failure inspires winners,” Robert T. Kiyosaki (of Rich Dad, Poor Dad fame)

“The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary,” Vidal Sassoon. I love this quote! But I found this quote in a book from 1930, attributed to someone called Parson Ebony Snow. That's an interesting thing about entrepreneur quotes or quotes in general... the good ones become accepted as common sense and are repeated so often that their origins are lost.

Inspiring quotes by Napoleon Hill

Here's two more entrepreneur quotes by one of my favorite inspiratiomal writers, Napoleon Hill. You've read his book, Think And Grow Rich, haven't you?

Most great people have attained their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failure,” and

“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”

And there's "Anonymous."

This next quote is attributed to a college student... no name was given.

“Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won't so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t,” Anonymous.

Finally, I just like this last quote because it applies to the entrepreneurship spirit- ”If you ain’t making waves, you ain’t kickin’ hard enough.” - Anonymous.
